In June of 2021 Phillips Respironics released a letter recalling devices manufactured before April 2021. There is a concern about the foam in these machines turning into fine particles when cleaned using ozone or UV. If you have not already replaced your Phillips Respironics device these are our recommendations:
Contact your Durable Medical Equipment supply company to determine whether your device was included in the recall and discuss the replacement of your device. If you experience a delay in replacing your device and you have not used an ozone or UV cleaning device to clean your machine your risk of particle aerosolization and disease is low. If you have used an ozone or UV cleaning device to clean your machine your risk may be higher. We advise that you balance the risk of using the machine vs not having adequate treatment for your OSA. We at Rise Sleep Medicine are happy to discuss your options with you to help with treatment options.
Please sign below, acknowledging you understand that these devices were recalled, and you understand the risk of potential pulmonary disease associated with the use of these devices.
